How do I set up an initial wellness visit with my primary care physician?
Your first step should be selecting your Primary Care Physician (PCP), and reporting this to your health plan (if required). Typically health maintenance organizations (HMOs) require patients to choose and report a PCP. If you are unsure whether or not you need to select a PCP you should call your health plan. Once you have selected your PCP, you should schedule an appointment with him or her for your annual physical and any appropriate preventive care and immunizations. You can also use this opportunity to ask any questions you have about your health. Establishing a relationship with your PCP is important to keep you healthy.
